Why I Will Never Apologize For Liking Comic Books And Superhero Movies....

The answer is because I like them and enjoy them. I grew up on comic books. My introduction to comic books was MAGE by Matt Wagner. My Uncle Rick had an impressive comic book collection and he trusted me enough to allow me to read his MAGE comics. I loved that series. It also introduced me to Wagner's other series which I also came to love, Grendel. There were more comic books after that that I came to love. Iron Man, Batman, X-Men, Superman, Wonder Woman, and so many more. I even had a comic book version of The Hobbit and Lord of The Rings. My uncle presented me with a few issues of a Wizard of Oz comic and I loved that too.

I have a lot of great childhood memories of comic books and love them still. I love comics like Blade of the Immortal, The Walking Dead, Watchmen, Avengers, and many others. So it made me incredibly happy when all the super hero movies started coming out. I enjoyed all of them and I'm looking forward to the upcoming ones. I get that not everyone is into comic books or super hero movies and that's perfectly okay. Everyone likes different things. However, what I do not get is the people who look down on anyone that likes comic books and super hero movies. They make comments along the lines of super hero movies aren't "real movies" or they aren't as important as "art movies" and to that I say bullshit. ALL movies are  real movies be it about super heroes or an independent art film and all of them matter. To suggest otherwise is not only arrogant, it's foolish.

Just enjoy the things you are passionate about and don't apologize to anyone for it. If you love comic books and super heroes, great! If you are all about art films, historical films, or documentaries, great! Both things are fine the way they are and if you really like them then that's the only thing that matters. But please. Don't be a jerk to other people about the things THEY like simply because it's not your tastes. It does no good to fight over something so trivial, so love what you love and let others do the same.

R.I.P. Monty Oum

I was truly saddened to hear of Monty Oum's passing. He was an incredibly talented person. I loved his work especially Red Vs. Blue and have really been enjoying RWBY. My heart goes out to his family and friends. It's truly a sad thing.
Rooster Teeth posted a very touching announcement about it which you can read here: http://roosterteeth.com/members/journal/entry.php?id=3302319

R.I.P. Monty Oum. The world seems a little less brighter without you in it. You will be missed.
