The Adventures Of Pirotess: Hatching Tide 2020

The Hatching Tide event ran from March 30-April 13 and I was able to participate in it before it ended. For those who don't know, Hatching Tide is the Easter event in Final Fantasy XIV. The holiday events in the game are a nice break for me from adventuring and crafting. The rewards you get for the events are pretty nice too. I headed to Old Gridania to start the event. Everything was decorated for Hatching Tide and it was so bright and colorful.

Pirotess arrives in Old Gridania.

Anyone who wanted to join in the festivities had to have a melee or mage character to at least level 15. This is true for all the holiday events. The event was divided into two chapters. I approached the NPC in the bunny costume to start the first chapter event, The Eggth Umbral Calamity.

Pirotess starts chapter 1.

This quest had me going to Central Shroud and speaking to an NPC there to get a temporary bunny costume which I had to wear and join a FATE where everyone had to chase and capture chickens. This was silly fun and I found myself laughing at all of us running around in bunny suits. Once this was done I returned to Old Gridania to turn it in.

Pirotess the bunny is ready to catch chickens!

After that, I was ready to start the second chapter of the event and got the quest A Procession Eggstraordinaire. No bunny costumes here, just participating in another FATE that involved me walking around Old Gridania and passing out colorful eggs to all the NPC children. This was a nice easy quest to do.

Pirotess starts the next quest.

Once that was done, I was able to run back and turn the quest in. The rewards for this event were pretty great. Available rewards were the rabbit suit, dapper rabbit suit, stuffed rabbit, and a Hatching Tide poster. I received the rabbit suit from the NPC for the first quest and the dapper rabbit suit could be bought with the bejeweled eggs that I got from the quest events.

Hatching Tide this year was great and it was nice to celebrate it with everyone. If you missed it this year, don't worry. It will return again next year with all the fun and colorful bunnies everywhere. I needed this bit of fun. I think many of us did. The events in the world have caused many of us to feel stressed, sad, anxious, and in some cases angry. Being able to come together and enjoy an event that celebrates gaming together and having some time to just enjoy things for a little while was a good reminder that we're not alone and there are still things we can enjoy. Remember to do your best to be kind to yourselves and to each other and be safe. Thanks for reading, see you at the next adventure!

See you at the next adventure!
